Bought a "new" rod today

I picked up a Phillipson Classic Model C80 fiberglass rod today. 8 ft. 6 weight in excellent condition. Made in the 50's. Lawn casted it, sweet rod with a lot of reserve power. Can't wait to fish it.

Philipson made fine flyrods. Top of the line for the time period. I own a Philipson DF76 "Swamp Fox" made in 1971 that I fish from time to time. It's a great dry fly rod and mine is really smooth. Have fun and enjoy your new rod. WTT

Re: Bought a "new" rod today

My Phillipson was made right before Bill Phillipson sold his company to 3M. It looks new and had the original metal tube and factory sock.It is 7' 6", weighs 3 1/2 oz. and rated for HDH-HCF line. I use Cortland's Classic "Sylk" DT5 weight line. Try that Sylk line on your flyrod. You may be surprised. WTT
