Cabelas glass rods

This weekend I'm going to Cabelas to cast a 7'-1" 4 weight Prime one piece fiberglass fly rod. If the rod fits and is truly a 4 wt. rod, I will buy it for $95.99. I'll give a report on Monday.

Re: Cabelas glass rods

Went to Cabelas today, lawn casted it, bought it. Couldn't stop lawn casting it when I got home. I paired it with a Hardy Featherweight reel (which has a 35 year old Cortland 444SL line). This rod reminds me of the Orvis Golden Eagle I never should have sold. Slow, buttery smooth, accurate, delicate. I'll be fishing it tomorrow morning.

Re: Cabelas glass rods

I have a Fenwick glass 6 foot 5 weight I've used for years. Love it.

I'm so far behind I think I'm in first place.

I own the same Fenwick (FF605) and an FF706. The Fenwicks are a lot faster than the Cabelas rod.

Re: Cabelas glass rods

Had a blast fishing a small class A trout stream this morning with my new rod. Caught about 9 fish in the first 15 minutes, lost count after that. Fished for 1 1/2 hours, all stream bred browns.
