After learning how to target white water in the summer, swinging and skating minnow patterns on a tight line I've had all of my Maribou minnows ripped to shreds. I'm left with a box half full of chewed up cone head , lead wrapped shanks with only some tattered Maribou hanging on.
I've switched to synthetic craft fur for wooly bugger tails and streamer patterns. This has certainly helped but this new pattern is bomb proof and is the closest thing a fly fisher can use to using a blue fox or mepps spinner.
#4 long shank streamer hook. Wrapped with .30 lead wire. Silver baitfish head. Pearl ez body. Sinks like a stone in up to 4 feet of current. Lots of gel loc tite and E6000 epoxy keeps thing thing durable enough to withstand tons of ferocious fast water takes.
