Anybody on the streams yet?

Just wonderin' who has decided it's time to start fishing yet. I was tying flies tonight so now I'm all itchy to go! I think I'll wait for some of this foot of snow to melt first though

A bad day hunting rabbits beats a good day of anything else!

I will as soon as it's not so darn cold out. I really don't like clearing off the ice off of my guides. That not much fun. I really need to hit the little J or spring soon

Go by the weather, not by the calendar. If it's real cold, that's not so good. Ice in the guides and maybe on the stream.

If we get a warming spell, go.

Re: Anybody on the streams yet?

I know last year I went during an early warm spell fairly close to this time. Fishing was slow, but I did manage a couple nice rainbows. It was about 40 degrees outside. But I want to go SOOO BAD!!! Somebody turn the heaters on...

honestly if you want to go that bad then just go, plenty of water is open and the fishing is really slow but you can catch them

Yeah I keep thinking I should just go... Honestly? I'm a little scared to go with ice on the water. Last year a stinkin' iceberg almost knocked me into the water while I was wading in the shallow water... Maybe I'll try it though, may be worth the effort.

Re: Anybody on the streams yet?

I got out yesterday. Temps were just above freezing so no guide freezing issues. Found plenty of active trout too. Had the whole stream to myself.

If the streams in your area have ice, and the weather is really cold, just go out for a hike in the winter. Along a stream if possible.

It's a cure for cabin fever. Good exercise, and very enjoyable.

Re: Anybody on the streams yet?

I've been doing lots of cabin fever exercises, including crow hunting, rabbit hunting, working on my bike, and just working in general. I "accidentally" watched a bunch of youtube videos the other night of guys fly fishing and now... well, you can guess the rest
