best nymph

in your opinion what is the must have nymph in your flybox?
what are some not so common nymphs that put fish on the line?

I have always been a huge fan of the prince nymph, it is always one of my go to nymphs.
Also the copper john is another standby for me.

The picket pin would be one that I use that doesn't get much use from other guys. One the same note, a royal coachman nymph gets me some fish from time to time as well.

16 gold ribbed bead head hares ear. Or just a hares ear no ribbing/bead... but hares ear is definate...

The copper john gets my vote for most versatile nymph. You can tie them to match almost literally any mayfly nymph in existance. Plus the added weight of the wire body helps get them down with minimal extra weight on the leader.

A close second for me would be a flashback pheasant tail.

My favorite fishing natives is the Prince Nymph , But fishing stocked streams its the Red Copper John Bead head hands down. Stockies love that thing!

hmmm...it honestly depends what time of year or where i am fishing...if i am anywhere near lancaster county its a prince dropped off of a san juan....if its up home on penns is def a copper john!
