steelhead

Warmed up enough today and got out for a couple of hours. Fished upper portions of Walnut creek. Was surprised with the amount of ice on the water. Stream was up some & clear. I had a few good hits on emerald shiner flie but failed to hook them. Still had fun, looking forward to my next outing.

Re: steelhead

I am a fan of using nymphs during the middle season. The fish have been in the stream a bit and are a bit more used to eating aquatic life that resides in the stream. Standard 14-16 nymphs will do the trick. Also larger stoneflies have worked for me.

Crystal buggers in white and black work up there as well.
