new to fly fishing

I am looking to get into fly fishing and would like to know where i might be able to get some assistance on equipment and technique in the beaver county area. Thanks in advance for any tips.

You can be part of the problem, part of the solution, or part of the landscape. Its up to you.

Re: new to fly fishing

The two closest fly shops to you are probably:

International Angler, not too far from the airport.

Neshannock Creek Outfitters, Volant

Both are good shops and can fix you up with tackle.

Regarding learning casting and fishing techniques, there are classes, which cost you some money.

Or you can try to learn on your own, watching videos, reading books. And maybe you can get a fellow flyfisherman to show you some tips.

Learning flyfishing on your own is not so easy. It's much better to have someone who knows flyfishing get you started.

You may also want to join Trout Unlimited. The Pittsburgh area chapter is the largest in PA.

Their meeting place is in Wexford.

Re: new to fly fishing

I go up to Neshannock Creek Outfitters in Volant quite often. Great store and Bob won't try and stear you wrong. I've also dealt with International Angler a few times and waas pleased with the service there too. The hardest thing is trying to figure out what rod to buy because there are so many different makes and models and there are differences in how they fish. Best option is to try different rods to see which type of rod fits you best.
