Salmon River 10/17

Started out at Ellis Cove in the morning after a late start. Lots of fishermen but very few fish. Almost no vehicles parked midriver on our way up. Had two Kings on at Ellis that broke off.
Decided to head to the Upper Fly Zone. Quite a few fishermen but also a decent amount of fish. Most of the salmon I saw were in bad shape already, lots of white flags flying and zombies around. I didn't see a single chromer caught all day. Ended up going 2 for about 20 in the Upper Fly. Landed one King and one Ho. Most of the Kings I saw were BIG. I think salmon season has ended early this year.

Saw an interesting sight on my way back to the truck. Some guys decided to build a tribute to the salmon in the river I guess. I saw them working on it but couldn't figure what the heck they were doing until I walked upriver.

Wow....

What a temple indeed..

A few years ago near the Little Black Hole I came across a bench that resembled the kind at a bus stop made entirely of flat river rock.. Great attention to detail, perfect slope on the backrest and armrests.. True artisans at work...

LOL

Now that's funny!

Glad you had a good day Beagler. Looks like the real fishing season is about to begin on the Salmon!

Re: Salmon River 10/17

You're not the first to say the salmon season is over. My friends that live up there said that they are expecting the chromers to be in the river heavily by next weekend. 95% of the salmon have already gone through the river.

Beagler, what was the flow Sunday? That doesn't look like no 750cfs like they had posted.

OMG, yes they are extremely over-rated. Use that money and buy a fly rod.
