Trout in the Classroom Release

Today I had the privilege of taking 40 students to Blackleggs to deliver the trout we raised in my classroom. I can not express my gratitude to ALL the volunteers that worked behind scene and on the front line to make this such a wonderful time. I will be posting pics soon, but WOW did we have a great time!

To any other fellow teacher on this site, please take a moment to consider this as a club or curriculum or even after school activity. I can not say how powerful this is with the children and making connections to others with similar interests.

Thanks to ALL that were involved!

CONGRATS on a successful raise and release. My wife has 26 nice brookies getting ready to find a new way of life in the Brokenstraw. this will be her 11th year of the program.

Agree, it is a great lesson, alot of work on keeping the tank maintained, but just a great lesson in today's standardized test world.

Fly Guy
Was this the Blackleggs in Indiana County? and have you did this before? The reason I ask is I caught and released a small 3" fry last year at Memorial park.
