Salmon river 11/12

We fished the school house down to around Ellis cove for the first few hours of daylight. That section of river is FULL of kings, coho's and steelhead. The crowds were very heavy in the upper river too. Everywhere you looked there were fish being hooked from 7-9am. After that the action slowed for everyone. Late morning we headed downriver to the compactor pool area. Lots of room to fish in that area as there weren't many salmon. I saw a hefty brown caught right at the bridge. Both me and my friend hooked up quite a few times and we each landed one king. We saw one guy fall in up to his chin and 2 guys nearly come to blows over a fishing spot.

Water release is 750cfs and off color. Not muddy but stained.

Re: Salmon river 11/12

thanks for report..

Will be hitting it the first week of Nov.

Chin-dunkers and fist-fights.... LOL - Good Times !!!!!

Upper river near Altmar is always stacked with fish and fishermen. It pays to take a walk or try downstream mid river if you seek some solitude and unmolested fish...

sounds like you had a good time Tanner

Re: Salmon river 11/12

I had a great time. I went with a friend that I don't get to see often enough.

Good luck Beagler! I wish I could join you.
