Got a chance to go out for a little over an hour to a delayed harvest area, started with nymphs and had only one pickup which I was to slow on. Thought I was about to get skunked. Had 5 minutes til I had to leave and put on a gold beaded black wooly bugger and immediately got a strike by this nice 15" rainbow.
Good day fishing with wooly buggers yesterday, two of the brookies I caught looked to have survive a predator of some sort:
Got out this evening for a few hours, wooly bugger action was slow switched over to a gold beaded prince nymph and came up with this nice rainbow
Lost this one on opening day under a log jam on the south east opener. Did not expect him to still be there after approx. 8 weeks had past. Since then high waters took log jam away and I spotted him out at the tail end of a deep pool. Was not interested in a wooly bugger or San Juan worm. Tied on a green stockie killer I bought from "Turkey Mike" and he picked it up on the first drift. Took a few pics and a quick measurement at 19", nice color to this golden. Made my day, left him go back to his home.
