Yellow Perch

I am looking to take my kids perch fishing. Does anyone know of any clean water mountain lakes or reservoirs in Northeast or North Central PA that are worth trying. I have a canoe or can fish from the banks. PFBC list these waters but I am skeptical...

Large Reservoirs > 500 acres
Lake Erie
Lake Marburg
Lake Wallenpaupack
Marsh Creek Lake
Shohola Marsh Reservior

Medium Reservoirs 50 - 500 acres
Beechwood Lake
Kahle Lake
Lake Redman
Long Pond
Lower Lake
Promised Land Lake
Rose Valley Lake
Stephen Foster Lake
Sugar Lake

Small Reservoirs < 50 acres
Briar Creek Lake
Hidden Lake
Lake Irena
Tingley Lake

Re: Yellow Perch

Your best bet is farmers ponds. Rose Valley was pretty decent years back.

Don't know how far you want to drive, but Glendale Lake in Prince Gallitzin State Park has a good population, and a nice campground.

If you're having trouble hunting for deer,
don't wish things were easier;
wish you were smarter.

Not a mountain lake but I've had very good luck Perch fishing Hopewell Lake in French Creek State Park. It's local, they rent boats or you can use your canoe.

Re: Yellow Perch

I catch a fair amt. of perch at Raystown in Oct. They are in and around weed beds that time of the year.

Don't know about taking kids out on that lake in a canoe though?

Re: Yellow Perch

Hills Creek state park outside of Wellsboro is an excellent yellow perch sanctuary. The lake is electric only, so a canoe would be great.

Re: Yellow Perch

Sayers dam has a ton of perch, not much on the size, but plenty of fish there.
