Bush Camp monster - Quebec

Just got back tonight and wanted to share the biggest of the week long trip to Bush Country Camp in the ZEC of Quebec.

32", 23" girth at the dorsel...our scale did not register accurately (32 lbs, LOL, got a pic of that too) so I don't know the actual weight. but figure 15-16lb or so.

There is a 14.5-21" slot size for keeping there, so i released this big momma to do her job, and even without the slot I think i may of as it was a real moment in the middle of nowhere to watch her disappear back behind the boulder, I mean you could see her swim down almost the whole 20'. Got and ate plenty of keepers, released a few 24" inchers too...but this one is being reproduced in fiberglass for sure. 20' of crystal clear water, jighead with crawler on 6 lb test, fight of about 10 minutes..netted myself before BIL got there in his boat to take a pic.

MUCH MORE details to come on trip and outfiiter for you guys, it is a great remote boat in trip, but I am beat from the road....G.night, talk to yinz tomorrow sometime.

Wow!! Great fish!! That will look good in the man cave for sure

Can't wait to read the narrative of your trip as you always have the knack of making one feel as if they were there, and right about now I need that

Re: Bush Camp monster - Quebec

Thanks guys...I wish i could of got a pic of the girth across the back, and her spikes up because that is the part that looked abnormal it was SO wide. it looked like a carp's back in width. But I was in the boat alone (a vid of me netting it would of been hilarious BTW), my BIL had to boat over during the fight to be there to get these pics or we would of taken more angles etc..before releasing...

I had to revive her a bit, got to the point where I wanted to ensure she lived more than get more photos. i tired her enough and am glad I got the pics i did. I will load up them all , mostly the same angle..but I need to load them for the taxidermist to do a replica anyway.

Here are all we got...slight different angles but not much variety as we would of had to move boats around. notice the one with the scale..it says 32 lbs...time for a new scale..LOL maybe that was kilograms? 2.2 of those for each pound right?

Re: Bush Camp monster - Quebec

I'll have to write up the fish story...also got a ton of pics to share, inclusing some great pics and video of the island's resident grouse and her 3 chicks. How often is it that you can follow around a hen grouse and 3 chicks and just watch what they do, eat, dust, and communicate. I got a video of the momma grouse dusting that is really cool.

That grip is my FiL's as was the scale, It was easy to use one handed and did a good job, but did poke a hole in the bottom of the mouth when she thrashed about...in fact that hole I put the scale thru when we weighed her. I have a berkley boga grip I like , but I was a bit rattled and could not remember where in my bag it was.
