Out of commission

Yesterday morning the boys and I were involved in an auto accident. Some ederly lady from Florida decided to try and turn left right in front of us. I was headed south, she was northbound. Boys and I made it through okay, but my truck is a mess. Her insurance authorized a rental, but 28 bucks a day won't do me any good for towing the boat anywhere! I think the insurance should pay to get an auto compariable to my f-150. I see my whole summer ruined by this. I can't see my truck getting fixed anytime soon. The whole left side is gone from front bumper to rear. I swerved and took the impact down the entire left side, instead of t-boning her. Goodbye summer! I'm done ranting now.

Wow weren't you in a bad wreck a few years ago too

Maybe they will total it and you get another truck soon.

Cutt'em, just curious, what insurance company are you dealing with?

Re: Out of commission

Raise a stink about the rate they are paying. Their insured was at fault and it is impacting your life. Be vocal - very vocal and seek supervisors and managers to complain to.

Is your position a short term gain - or a long term loss? Separate the issues.

Re: Out of commission

Yeah, I was in a serious crash back in '08. That was a doozy. I'm dealing with All-State. I have a buddy who used to work at Enterprise, so he's helping me out with getting a truck. We'll see how that goes. If they do total it, it would be easier to deal with. I could at least go and get another truck faster than it will take to fix mine. I'm going to see if I can get some pics tomorrow of the truck. I didn't even think of it at the time. I was more concerned with keeping the boys off the road in case a rubber necker added to the carnage!

Re: Out of commission

The lady that hit you should pay for a truck rental. I had a similar problem 6 years ago, got rear ended by a guy and his insurance only wanted to pay for a Fiesta too. I called his agent back and without too much efort on my part she told me to rent the truck. Which I did even had a hitch on it. Now I only had the rental for 1.5 weeks while mine was in the shop(it was driveable/but couldn't tow the boat)

Well all is not lost. I got an suv with a hitch so that should work out for the time being.
