Lower Allegheny Walleye??

Anyone have any idea idea where I can find some walleye in the lower allegheny?? Looking to fish somewhere between maybe Springdale and Kittanning. I've always wanted to fish for them in winter but its usually too cold to keep the boat un-winterized. I'd make the exception this year though and keep it in the garage so I can enjoy some of these unseasonably warm days!

Natrona Lock and Dam area, always seem to catch both nice eyes and saugers there.

Just down from the dam by the steel mill? I live very close to that so I may have to give it a shot. Fished below the dam for catfish offshore but never take then boat out there. Any idea where the best launch is?? The one under the Tarentum bridge seems trecherous!

Is there a reason why you feel that the launch under the Tarentum Bridge is treacherous?

The only other public launch in that pool that I am aware of is in Springdale.

Re: Lower Allegheny Walleye??

The Tarentum launch is too shallow, short, and drops straight off into the river. I was with a buddy of mine trying to launch his boat there and the trailer went right off the end of the ramp before the boat would come off. Had to winch the boat and trailer back onto the ramp. Current is fairly swift there too.

Try around the warm water discharge at Duquesne power plant, its not that far down river from the springdale boat ramp on colfax street or you can go up river to west penn power plant right past the last pump house on your left side,if you have a fish finder look for some deep holes around 25 to 30' deep not that far off the shore line or you can head up pass the new ken bridge to the old ppg glass plant and fish along the concrete wall, all these places are on the old rt 28 side also you can try were bull creek comes into the river at the tarentum bridge.

What you don't see with your eyes, don't invent with your mouth.
