Re: muskie in populated area

They aren't hurting the bass populating any. From the sounds of it, you plan on keeping/killing the muskies you catch. I doubt you'll get any help with that...and hope you don't!

I've caught em on shiners, rapalas, and spinners. I don't keep em all but the ones that I did keep were quite good

Re: muskie in populated area

so it sounds like to me about any lures work but especially big in size and bucktails are good from what i've heard. i dont fish live bait so thats out. but according to muskie52 i'm gonna kill em all so please don't give me anymore help on this topic. i can go elsewhere for answers. surveyor, thank you very much for your input.

now i gotta go and kill the world population of muskie before 52 gets to em. BRING IT!!

Re: muskie in populated area

Just remember the state wide size limit is 40" if its 40 or over it legal to keep. If you for some reason you think you'll hurt the population you obviously have never fished for muskie, big ones are smart ones. I'm not sure why you would want to take the apex predator out of a body of water muskie prefer soft wray fish like suckers to bass. Its been shown in many studies that they help increase the size of the pan fish by eating some of the smaller fish. Good luck STAY LEGAL!

Re: muskie in populated area

i never said i was keeping or killing any fish. i said that the bass fisherman wanted rid of them which simply tells me they are populated and my odds are better to catch one there. i aint kept a fish aside from stocked trout in probably 10 years.

Re: muskie in populated area

Where are you located? I may not personally keep many fish but if its legal and you wanted to i'm not gonna be upset about it haha so I dont care what you keep I just like to catch fish.

Re: muskie in populated area

HEY, If it's legal keep it, eat it, or have it mounted.
Enough with all this catch and release crap. The daily limits are set by the fish commission, so if it's one a day or
half a dozen a day it won't hurt nothing but the big money tournament guys, and since they don't pay for my fishing license I don't care what or how they feel about it. As far as I am concerned, let them go get a real job and leave the fishing to those who appreciate good eating.
I caught some dandies last year and filleted them.
Sprinkle some garlic powder and a little old bay on them and fry'em.
