After the horrible archery season that I had this year, I got the itch to do some fishing. Luckily my wife was scheduled off today so I got the okay to go. I called a friend of mine and planned to meet this morning at 5:45am. I met him and jumped into his truck after getting my gear in the boat and off we went. It was nice catching up since our schedules don't exactly coincide and we got to the ramp at 7:20am.
This was my first river trip and it's always exciting fishing some fresh water. Well, around 8:45am I tossed a curly sue into some slack water, let her sink a bit and started working it back to the boat. About two pulls later, she got slammed. A quick fight and I landed this little guy, 34 incher.
We fished around the spot a bit and a walleye boat pulled up and we were talking a bit about musky fishing. About two minutes later, my buddy got this one, a 42 incher.
We fished for a couple more hours and actually went to another couple spots and didn't have any more luck. We pulled out just before the rain hit. It was a fun trip and hopefully the weather will cooperate since I'm planning on going back if I can talk him into it. I caught my fish on a curly sue and my buddy caught his on a bulldawg. This is the fifth consecutive trip my buddy has made up here and caught at least one fish. It's a winter hotspot for sure
