stocking up a box for musky, help needed!

Starting a tackle box just for musky. Seems like I can never make up my mind, when I'm in the store. What should I buy?

As much as your wife allows (lol)! Seriously though, you can probably get started with a few bucktails (small ones like blue fox musky bucks if you don't have the reel for the cowgirls and the big stuff), a few topwaters (I like topraiders and walk dog style ones like weagles), a few different sized bulldawgs, and a few crankbaits/jerkbaits (shallow raiders, depth raiders, super shads, etc.). Good luck! Don't forget some good leaders, a big net and the proper release tools. Could go on and on though, everybody has their favorites!

There is always a season!

The Doc is right on. I fish lots of bucktails because they are probably the most versatile bait made. THey can be used in almost any location. I like the Bucher Tackle because they have produced for me.

Are you casting or trolling?

Make sure you have a good pair of hook cutters and the proper tools for a quick safe release.

great spot for gear

If you are casting you will not go quite as big with baits. It is tough to throw the real big stuff.

Please rememebr to get the fish to the boat ASAP, get the hook out, take a quick pic and then revive the fish before you release it.

Try overstockbait.com They have sales on the musky baits. Found them this year while looking for large spools of line. Nice prices on line. Ordered Monday aftrnoon and was at the house Wednesday. Nice people to deal with.

I like the big #18 Rapala's, I change the split rings and hooks on them but they work pretty good for big walleye, pike and musky.
