monogehela river giant

Just wondering if anyone else seen the Valley Newspaper the other day where the young guy caught the large muskie. He was bass fishing and hooked a 53 inch muskie. He caught it on 12 pound test line after a 40 minute battle. His girl friend netted it for him when he finally tired it out. After some photos and measuring it he revived it and released it to fight another day. I think he better hang on to a good woman that enjoys the outdoors.

Re: monogehela river giant

Sounds like a nice fish but doubt it survived after a 40 minute battle even if it did swim off.

Re: monogehela river giant

Definitely sounds like a nice fish, but I wonder how he netted it (lol). Heck IMO my father-in-law has an undersized "musky net" (lighter and easier for him to handle by himself). It has difficulty with mid to upper 40 inch fish, but is still likely to be bigger than anything that guy had with him! Would love to see the pictures!

Why is it the bass guys always get the 50+ ers?

There is always a season!

Re: monogehela river giant

sounds good, but also do you think this fish is alive after a 40min???? battle? 40 min is a long time.!! Congrats though regardless..

Re: monogehela river giant

One thing is for sure though, it had a better chance of surviving after a 40 minute battle and being released, than a 40 minute battle and being kept. Kudos to the young man!

Re: monogehela river giant

Hi guys. The guy that caught the giant Musky is Justin Hrach, and my best friend. He is also a member here. I'll ask him to post some more pictures. His GF has several on her camera, and I think a picture that shows the fish in the net. He only has an average size net, so yeah the fish hangs out on both sides. But, since I fish with the guy weekly, I know he revived the fish totally. He is a true sportsman!!

Congrats again Just!!!

Re: monogehela river giant

Very Cool! He did exactly what everyone on here says should be done and someone still has to take a cheap shot I guess he could have just cut his line after 20 minutes! I sure would not have, but of course there are a few who say they would have!
