Erie Walleye Trip

Thinking of a Lake Erie walleye trip with my family and parents this year. Was there over 15 years ago...went out of Port Clinton. Any advice on what time of year to go and maybe a guide to check out? Thanks

Re: Erie Walleye Trip

MQ, I'm no expert, but I think that is a late spring early summer trip. By July, the fish have spread out, and moved to deeper water. Ed

“did you get all that on camera sport?”

Re: Erie Walleye Trip

Why go all the way to Port Clinton and pay for an Ohio license when you already have a PA license? The walleye fishing in Erie starts to heat up by the second week of June. By the end of June its on! There are several VERY good walleye charter captains in Erie and you probably already have the license.

Re: Erie Walleye Trip

I've gone 5 years in a row with Joe Boy Charters, out of port clinton, ohio. He does a 2 day package with lodging. We have limited out everytime we fished with him. We alway go in June. It seems like a general rule is if you want numbers of fish go west, if you want big fish stay in PA. I highly recommend Joe Boy charters and capt. Bob Slye!
