Just got off Wilhelm. 2 bass tournaments going on today. Rangers with twin Mercs everywhere. Couldn't buy a bite from the un co-operative walleye. But as I was loading my boat, the next boat coming in behind me had a 9 year old boy who let out a whoop and the fight was on. 28 inch 8 pound walleye, trolling what else, a hot n tot. Purple and pink.I will post picture once I figure out how to get it out of my phone. The kid is ruined. His Grandpop couldn't have been any prouder. Best part was the look on the bass boys faces. This is what fishing is all about.
Gary.. you are correct. They were using their kicker motors. The parking lot at the weigh in looked like a boat show.
That's a bit much don't you think? The tournament out of the marina had less than 20 boats and of those I think like 2 were actual fiberglass bass boats (that don't have "kickers", they fish by trolling motor) with the rest being typical 20 hp lake boats. I was there and fished in it. In fact, I was the last boat pulled out at weigh in time and I don't recall seeing anyone "whoop" and catch anything that made any of us "bass guys" look. I don't doubt a kid caught one as you said but maybe it was a far bigger deal for you and them, rather than us "bass guys".
