I went trout fishing in the East Branch of the Wallenpaupack Creek today and I didn't realize the walleye were spawning. I kept seeing large fish in the creek and couldn't figure out what they were. Finally I got close enough to one to see what it was. There were tons of them in there. They would stay in groups of 4 to 6 and seemed to like the fast water. It was really since to see. The trout weren't hitting good but I got to experience something I didn't expect.
I inadvertently caught one on a spinner and immediately let it go. It was around 14"-16". I also freed one that some how managed to get stuck under a rock belly up. I seen a fish laying belly up in the crevasse between two large rocks and figured it was dead. I was curious to see what it was so I grabbed the tall and it squirmed and pulled away. Realizing that it was alive I flipped one of the rocks it was stuck under and it spun right side up and swam away.
