New Cumberland

I'm thinking of maybe hitting the New Cumberland area of the Susky. Any advice on how it would be with the current water levels? ...fishing for muskies.
I was there in early June and there seemed to be some nice water out there.

Re: New Cumberland

I rec'd some additional advice on this area. I'm most likely heading out there on Friday. I realize it's late notice, but I'll have an open seat...fishing most of the day for muskies. Please be a muskie fisherman if you reply.

Re: New Cumberland

Just saw your post. How did you do? I'd like to get out there myself sometime.

Have you done any muskie fishing on the Potomac?

Re: New Cumberland

I saw the river was up. I was there when it was 3.4'. I was about 5.9' this morning. So, I went to the Potomac instead. Caught my PB muskie, 45-1/4", about 26 lbs.

Re: New Cumberland

Nice. Glad you ended up having a fishing partner to snap some pics. Where do you launch on the Potomac? I just bought a 16' boat two months ago and would like to get out on the Potomac but I'm a little worried about not knowing the water. I heard that it is very shallow and rocky. Any recommendations on where I can fish/boat safely?

Re: New Cumberland

The normal high for this past Monday was 46 degrees. That would be WONDERFUL compared to what it's been like. We got so hosed with the so-hot summer, and now winter comes so early. It just goes to show you that you have to take advantage of those good days.

Re: New Cumberland

That's true, you never know.If the weather warms up,the lower section of the Susky should be good til mid. jan or so for Musky & Walleyes.I'm not much for boating in the 30s.
