Old musky pole or should I get another one?

I have a Fenwick/Woodstream model 760 6' musky/striper casting pole. My dad bought it years ago.

Should I fish with that pole or buy another, newer longer rod?

It seems folks now prefer to fish with 7 1/2-9 foot rods.

Thank you for any input.

You should upgrade, the newer longer rods make everything easier on you. Well worth the 100 to 150 you'll spend.....obviously you could go higher too! I still use a short (7'6) for gliders, but others are 8' or 8'6" and I am 5'8" tall, so if you're taller you might want 8'6" or longer . If you can handle the rods first or try a buddies, that would be best

I'm not a tall person so I will look at an 8 foot rod.

Thanks

I agree with fishdoctor. Go with as long a rod as you can handle. Most of mine are 8 or 8 1/2 feet. When I decide to upgrade I'm going longer.

You can't get em from the couch.
