Delaware River (ty to LCbowhunter22)

Seeing the success fo LCbowhunter22, I decided to hit the Delaware River at Dingman's Ferry Saturday night. However, the deeper holes and backwater still had ice over them. I fished for maybe an hour, not bites (in the shallower water with no ice) and headed home.

If it's still open season I want to head up there soon.

Went back Saturday, a warmer day and a day before the cold front. The River was open at Dingman's Ferry. I fished for a few hours with a buddy with jigs and shinners and didn't catch anything. We fished from around noon to 2:00. The river was fairly clear too. Maybe next week.

That is interesting. So you fished Sunday when the temperature dropped. Did you fish from shore or from a boat? And were you North or South of Dingman's Ferry?

We don't worry about the temp.

From a boat.

North of Dingman's.

I don't know how knowledgeable you are with walleye fishing, but when the water is cold (50 and below) the fish are lethargic eating very sparsely, that being said I like to throw big crankbaits (5 inch +) and reel these lures in at a moderate pace... Usually all of my hookups are with 10-15 feet from sure at all times of the year. I fish from the shore of rivers throughout western PA. I've had the most luck with shad colored lures and chartruese colored lures.
