One question, why there?

There are plenty of other lakes with much higher muskie populations than Kinzua. And those lakes are much easier to fish.

Gotcha, I just saw you were from Ohio and would suggest Pymatuning, Conneaut Lake, and a couple others based on your location.

Kinzua is a notoriously tough lake to fish. A guide would be well worth the $.

What about hiring a guide with a drift or jet boat and fishing the river? There's a much better chance for landing a muskie during a day's fishing. The average size is smaller though.

Re: Help with info or guide on allegheny res.

I have to second Run2Catch, the river is a heck of a musky fishery. the biggest problem with the river in the spring is one day the river will be at normal height and the next its 7 feet higher and unfishable.

I fished with Red last year on the river and had a great time. I would definitly recommend him, you will not find someone more knowledgable of the river than Red. He also does trips on Kinzua and Tionesta. When we went the river was high and muddy so the fishing wasnt that good but we did manage 3 pike.
