Trout stockings schedule for Elk Co

Looking at the schedule of Elk co creeks it has nobody is allowed to help stock. They still have 2 or 3 different days for each creek to be stocked. I’m under the impression they are only stocking each creek once and combining the 2 or 3 into the one big stocking before the first day because of the virus threat. Sounds like a lot of trout for the first day. Am I right?

Provided people don't jump the gun and start fishing for them before the start of the season. Unfortunately, there are people that do that every year.

That was what I got out of it. All the fish are being put out at once.

Hunting: 10% skill and 90% location.

If they do there what they did in Allegheny Co. last week the truck will show up and dump trout at the easiest spot available . I watched as they dumped a whole stocking truck in two spots . I don't know how many trout that equates to but I bet it's a lot . The next day I stopped where many guys were fishing and one older gentleman told me that he caught 83 trout in 3 hours. This is at North Park lake in Allegheny County which is open year round , but catch and release now.

Also only 2 men on the truck and no civilian helpers . I watched as a dad and daughter walked up to the truck dressed to help only to be turned away . I'm sure it's going to be no different anywhere else in the state. From talking to these guys each place they stock will be the full allotment slated for that body of water , the complete seasons worth of trout at one time dumped in one or two spots .

Youíre correct. Iíve been hauling trout with my pick up and tank since 1977. I was told several days ago not to show up for the stocking, as the PFBC was going to dump the entire load at one stop. This info came directly from the agency.
