Salmon Report 9/29

Well our group of four ended up as two heading to the river for to day due some over indulging in alcohol the night before. Lol
My buddy and I decided to try Oswego first. We made our way up to the dam. It was jammed with fishermen. No fish. Someone would hook a salmon maybe once every 20 minutes. My buddy had one on that broke off. River temp is simply too warm.
Headed over to the Salmon River next. It was a complete zoo with fishermen. Went to Ellis Cove. Saw a few fish, none hooked. I saw maybe 3 landed while we were there.
Next went in back of the museum. Saw a few guys hooking up. Managed to get a spot in a hole I always fish there. Ended up going 3-8. My buddy went 1-3. There were a few dime bright cohos blasting up and some kings as well.
Saw a decent amount of fish at the cleaning stations. Again I’d say there is definitely fish throughout the river but certainly not loaded. It’s about being at the right place at the right time. The fishing pressure is ridiculous.

Thanks for the report. Hoping the drop in temps later this week with some rain in the forecast pushes salmon in the river. Headed up this Saturday to fish all next week.

Thanks for the report. Sounds like you made the most of it though. Good job!

Timing seems right for the 4 of us who are heading up next week for a few days, staying at that spoiled place right above Ellis Cove. 😉

As mentioned, the cooler nights and rain ahead should get them moving nicely by time we get there. Hopefully the crowds won’t be too bad as we are doing weekdays, not ends and of course have the spoiled section.
