Salmon Report 9/08

All the reports on Facebook saying fish all over in the river. Some guys saying 200 hookups, river loaded, etc.
Here’s my experience today. Started behind the museum above the Sportsman Pool. Saw 4 fish splashing their way upstream at first light. Stayed put for about 45 minutes, no others seen. Saw only a single hookup. Walked the river upstream about a quarter mile “hunting”, didn’t see a fish.
Left and went to Ellis Cove. Amazed at all the construction they did to the river. It’s more or less two deep pools now. Didn’t see a fish or any hooked.
Next went to the trestle. Didn’t fish only watched the circus. Lots of guys there fishing. Saw a few salmon hooked.
Next went to the Papermill and waked upstream. Didn’t see a fish. Saw about two hookups upstream above us in that small pool where the private campground is.
Checked waterline and saw the flow at Oswego dropped from 9,000+ all the way down to 2,500cfs. Decided to take a drive over. Worked our way up to the dam. I went 2 for about 12. Guys were hooking up frequently. Not a huge amount of fish but decent number. A lot of the Kings I saw were big and fresh. That was my experience today. Left about 2:30. My buddy’s daughter had a game he wanted to attend.

They're good looking fish Beagler....
Yeah, Ellis Cove is a little different. Stomped all over that netting when I was up in August doing some bass fishing down around the corner there....
That's going to be some good holes up against that bank of tress and stuff they put in there.
Those fish will stack up in there like cord wood....
May give the Trestle a run for tops in circus status once people figure it out.....
Have family up there today but as of 1:00 PM , no reports yet....
I like the Salmon Cart hitch set up .....

My grandfather was just up fishing the lake this past weekend and the guide said its a little late this year. One of the guys that went along went up and down the river and didnt see any salmon or seen anyone with any on a stringer.

I put that hitch carrier on the back just to throw fish on. Last year I still had blood and salmon eggs stuck in the bed of my truck during deer season. Lol.
