Still too early IMO. Still catching fish in 150 FOW and river temp 70 degrees. I do remember one Labor Day weekend about ten years ago we did do well however. Last year I waited until there were a good amount of fish in the river before I made a trip up. I believe that was Sept 20th. Usually the third week of Sept through the 3rd week of Oct you will find decent numbers. I have all my gear organized and am just waiting. Cleaned the fly line on my two fly reels and put new 17lb mono on my three spinning reels. Found a great deal on ebay on jars of Jensen eggs as well. I just purchased a new Folstaf wading staff I'm eager to try out. Keeping my eye on Oswego as well although they usual run the Salmon before OZ.

Seeing those fish low in the DSR last week got me energized especially since I was not expecting it....
I'm really looking forward to using the new fly rod & reel set up so I'm looking for even the smallest excuse to go back up there....
If I go it will be on Sunday so I have Monday to recoup before going back to work....
Should know by Saturday night if the release(s) made anything (other than a few here & there) happen....

You always get some early runners in August. They usually head back down or go belly up due to the warm water temps. Keep us updated if you decide to go. Hopefully they will get a strong west wind and blow some cooler water in and trigger some fish. Good Luck!

Saw that... I have a threshold in order for me to head up there this holiday weekend for a day trip.. I'll be monitoring...
The colder nights are encouraging....

Well, we decided not to go and instead fish Beltsville Dam Lake Saturday morning which was a great outing with my friend on his boat...
From what we saw posted the Labor Day weekend salmon fishing wasn't to bad and will go down as one of the better early salmon fishing experiences if you were there....
Having experienced the Sept. 2012 epic run, this weekend would have been good but no where near what we experienced back then so the 4 hour drive seemed too much right now...
All indications are that this season will be a good one once all the stars align....

I ended up taking my daughter up the Paupack fishing. She manage to land a few nice stripers.
My buddies fished the river Monday and did very well for it being so early. Three of them managed to land 5 salmon.

A friend of mine did really well on Monday and Tuesday. Sounds like a lot of fish came up from the water release.
