The Wissahickon

Some of you guys from the SE have PMd me over the years about the Wissy, and I tried to help out the best I could. Saturday I took my oldest son who just graduated college down for his first outing of the year, and to make a long story short, we absolutely hammered them. We caught and released over 40 fish in less then an hour and a half, and we were constantly on the move. This stream is loaded with trout and not one other fisherman was seen in our 1 mile walk, very sad!!! It was last stocked almost 3 weeks ago. So if ya wanna catch some trout or take a youngin, pm me and I’ll tell ya where to go, this stream is loaded with fish with nobody fishing it!!!

Camp life,it don't get much better!

25ft SHHHHHHHH!!!!!! I have great thing going here don't ruin it. HaHaHaHa. Actually had a great morning yesterday & caught a 20" rainbow. Seen only 2 other fishermen. There are still some big trout from the tournament in there best part about the Wissahickon is that it is large enough to hide them unless they are palominos.

I'm going to have to get out there.

I've been spending so much time fishing Stony Creek in Norristown. They put some phenomenal numbers in there, and no one is fishing there either.

Wondering where the people are this year. Last year, I couldn't walk that creek without seeing 3, 4, or even 10 people. Not the same this year.

Mikey I pass the Stony to get to the Wissahickon, the Stony can’t hold a candle to the Wissahickon with the amount of fish, and the certain clientele that fish there...

Oh, the clientele drives me nuts. But like I said, it just doesn't seem to have many people fishing it lately.

For me, I live a 2 miles away from the Stony, and it's between work and home for me. I can go after work, I can go in the morning if I want, and I can get there for an hour or 2 and fish.

I'll have to get up to the Wissahickon.

Good luck with that!

I fish for native and wild trout over 90% of the time.

But I have fished the Wissahickon and it's terrific. It's a really beautiful stream. I was especially impressed with the big old trees along the stream.

You see more impressive trees along the Wissy, within the city limits of Philadelphia, then you do out in the "wilds" of northcentral PA.

Loved fishing the Wissahickon. It's been 40 years since I fished it.
