We tried 16 Mile, Lower Walnut, and Elk last Sunday.... 16 Mile would have been ok, but we had a father and two sons move in on top of us and push us right out of the hole we were fishing. Everywhere there were ALOT of people on the streams, but not a lot of fish being caught. Out of 3 of us, we only managed 1 bite and 0 fish caught for the entire day... Only seen 4 caught (all on Waxworms) by the guys who pushed us off the hole on 16 mile.
We figured it was so busy mainly due to everyone trying to get in one last trip on their fishing licenses... Hopefully it'll be a bit slower ( people wise ) next time we go up.
Also, next time I go up, i'm planning to finally try "Bead Fishing"...

How big do beads have to be to keep?

Is there a daily limit?

What do you use for bait?

Do you pan fry them or smoke them?

So many questions........

That is why I haven’t fished for steelhead in Erie for years and don’t intend to. There was no fishing manners the last time I was there and it sounds like nothing has changed. Elbow to elbow in some of the pools. People cutting immediately in front, stomping across the stream only yards in front of another angler. It’s like every day is Opening Day there.

Yea, you definitely run into some people like that up there. Still not as bad as the Salmon River though ! But I've also met some really good people on those streams too...

As for the "Bead Fishing" jokes; I really have no experience with using them. People claim that they work great for Trout, Salmon, and Steelhead - but I've never tried them. I ordered a variety pack from Ebay the other day (of the soft beads) and am hopeing to try em out next weekend. Then I went to Walmart and found where they made a mistake and put the NEW Poutzke Fireballs on clearance for $2 a jar. (not the Poutzke Balls o Fire Salmon Eggs - but the new artificial eggs they recently came out with) and those eggs run $7 to $8 a jar usually. So I bought the 3 jars I seen offhand... Pink-Shrimp, Chartreuse-Garlic, and Natural Brown Trout. My son is going to Walmart today to see if they have any others - and grab them if they do. Because everyone I've spoken to thus far has said that they work great!
Update: Went to a local stream and fished for under an hour. The Poutzke Fireballs work great! Multiple hits on both the Shrimp and the Brown Trout Eggs.... Though this is the only one landed.
