I’m using a teardrop shaped body that measures just about 0.6” and will weigh 0.125 oz with the blade and bead. I’m stuck between a size 5 and 6 blade. Thoughts? Advice? I’m leaning towards the 6 but don’t want it to be too much vibration as to spook stream trout.

What type of blade are you using; swing, Panther Martin type, Colorado, French?

A #6 Panther Martin type blade, which I would call inline, is a big blade. You might make a few that size, but think a #4 would be better for most instances.

Completely forgot to include that, my fault. Yes I’m using an inline spinner blade like a Panther Martin. I’ve noticed on PMs and their 1/8 oz teardrops, the teardrop body measures close to 0.4” and uses a 4 blade. It certainly has enough thump in the water. My concern is that a 4 won’t be a long enough blade with the body I’m using which is about 0.55”.

My suggestion is that you make some of both sizes. I think the #4 will be fine for most conditions. You can use the #6 for larger streams and high water conditions.

For the cost, just make a couple and try. That us one advantage we have making spinners. If it doesnt work, dismantle it and essentially the only lost part is the wire.

I have size 5’ s from Jann’s netcraft it’s big blade. It’s bigger that the blade on a PM size 6. The size 4 from lureparts is equal I size to the PM size 6 blade. I hope this helps.
