My guess is that without the funny comment, ya, Frank's wrapped it here at HPA which is certainly disappointing. The place is without a doubt less entertaining without him posting. The world of internet forums isn't for everyone though and Frank is a very polarizing poster and tends to garner attention from fly-fisherman much more than the rest of us that post similar topics. Those that post unique and often times amazing things have to be able to deflect and handle people who criticize them at times. I've seen more than excellent contributor wash out of HPA because this. In fact I would say that MOST excellent contributors wash out eventually after some sort of forum altercation. Hopefully over time he comes back. I don't know Frank personally but he's got a passion for trout fishing that really none of us can match and puts pens to paper better than anyone I know. He also seem like a genuinely good person. If he never posts again though HPA will go on and hopefully another person will take his place and help those of us that post pics and stories to keep the place entertaining.
Bull, blackpowder and Bigbrownie like this.

This suggests that Frank quit because of a confrontation with flyfishers.

Do you know that to be true?

Are you sure that Frank quit because of any sort of "forum altercation?"

I looked through some of his most recent posts and didn't see any altercations.

I can't remember any specifics, but I remember Frank was involved in a heated back and forth earlier this year. I hope he comes back. This whole place won't be the same without him.

It doesn't suggest at all that Frank quit because of fly fishers. Read what it really says. It says he got a lot of attention from them. And that is true.

Anyone who reads this forum at all knows that Frank quit because of the altercation in question. The reason why you didn't see it in any of Frank's recent posts is because it all got deleted because of the content of that exchange.

Trout2003 did not just pull his post out of thin air for something to talk about. The regulars of this forum know that his post is SPOT ON.

The guy certainly made entertaining posts. They were fun to read. That said, some folks can endure negative banter and responses, some can't and will quit, and some actually prefer to engage in contentious posts over any other dialog, which is odd. And while there was obviously no love loss between he and fly fisherman, he dished it out also. Some references were a bit veiled if you didn't know the history. Such as, (paraphrase) "The action was hot until I encountered a fly fisherman", or "Two fly fisherman got ahead of me, and..." etc... I also have to disagree with Trout2003, in that he had a passion that no others can match on here. There are a few posters that acquit themselves quite well in that respect. Trout'03 being one of them.

To each their own I reckon ?
