Typical opening day

The Kid and I went up to Little Pine State Park and fished at the campground. The place holds a lot of memories for me as my Dad, Myself and three uncles used to go there for the opener. My dad and two of my uncles are gone now, and it was nice to share the place with my boy.

At 8 am people were pretty well spaced out and everyone was respectful of each other.

8:30 here comes two fly fisherman and the one guys son, who was using a spinning rod. The start directly across the creek, and before you know it, needing space behind them to back cast, they are standing in the middle of the water that I had just caught two fish out of.

The Kid had enough and says he is going to another spot, leaving me with "And don't get in a fight." LOL

Now, to be clear, this is not about fish, (we didn't keep any), and is not a slam against fly fisherman. Actually, we had fly rods in the jeep, but more about respect for others.

If, by chance, those guys are on here, I would ask that next time you look around a bit and look at someone else's perspective....

Even with that, a beautiful day in the Pine Creek Valley.

I prefer my kid hunt and fish rather than steal and deal,

Just one of the myriad of reasons I have not fished stocked trout streams for decades.

I quit trout fishing 30 years ago because of the kind of incidents you described. Last night I rode around the local trout streams, was a big booze party anywhere I went, I imagine a lot of them didn't even wake up for first cast or were quite hung-over. Took my grandson yesterday and today to a private farm pond. He caught over 25 bluegill each day and 4 bass. All returned to be caught another day. The weather was beautiful and a great time had by all of us.
