New Reel

I am looking for a new reel for my trout rod. I use a St Croix Premier 6 1/2 foot light rod. I have always liked the quick-fire type reels and am looking for something along those lines in a new reel. Do they even make reels like that any more? (Doesn't need to be specifically a Shimano Quick-Fire) And does anyone have a suggestion? I haven't looked for a new reel in quite a while.

kudu, i take it you are talking about a spinning reel? ive had a couple shimano ultralite reels and had very little problems with them. the ones with the quickfire trigger i always took it off because the line kept tangling up on it. wish Mitchell would come back with the old 308 ultralite reels they made.

Without looking, I'm not sure they still make the quickfire reels. But I'm not afraid to buy any of the Shimano reels. Find the model in your price range and have at it.

Yes, a spinning reel. I've never had much issue with those quick-fire type reels. Just haven't bought a new reel in a quite while. I bought three of those Shimano quick fires at a show one time and just now burnt the last one up. I tend to be fairly hard on fishing equipment so I don't want to spend a whole lot of money, say less than $100.
