Arsenal

I plan on trying to do a decent amount of spinner fishing this season, but sometimes I just fall back to the stockies and going after them with bait.

What are some of your favorite baits that you've used, or the "must haves" for when you're going to use bait?

Last year, I used waxworms, butterworms(good luck finding them!), crawlers, & powerbait.

Considering getting some Spikes this year in a combo pack with waxworms. Ideally, I plan to order bait; probably from Ja-Da, which is where I got it when I lived in Western NY and did a lot of ice fishing.

Man I always love the salted minnows. Every year I end up tossing bait at least for a few hours. They're tougher and tougher to find but man are they effective on everything.

Iíve always heard about using them, just never done it myself. Read that you should ďthread themĒ?

Can you salt your own? Thought thatís what my buddy use to do, but canít really remember. Heís since passed, so I canít ask him.

Live minnows are tough to beat. Next to that a salted minnow jigged back is another killer bait to try.

My bait varies greatly on if I'm fishing to put a trout or two in my creel or if I'm C&R(99% of my fishing). Nothing beats live minnows or garlic PowerBait for stockies.

I always have waxworms, yellow powerbait, shrimp eggs and white trout magnets with chrome head. If I can't catch them on those, then I'm just not going to catch them.

My go to baits are...meal worms, salted minnows, red worms, and or home grown garden worms, and trout magnets in various colors.

When I used to bait fish I used night crawlers ripped in half and wax worms.
