9/9 Salmon River Report

Started high at Ellis against my better judgement but I saw the gauge at pineville reading 800+ and figured water down lower would be crappy.
Saw a total of 3 fish blow by in morning.
Next went below the staircase. Water was high and discolored. Some fish coming through. I went 0-6. Guys hooking up here and there. Some leaving with stringers. A mix of kings and coho.
I didn't see hundreds of fish going by like some others stated on web reports. Movement stopped by noon and my buddy had some work to do back home so we stopped for lunch and jumped back on 81.

Too bad you didnt try the ball park! 14 hours of nonstop action. I landed about 20. Hooked 70ish. Handed alot off the my 9yo. He is now hooked. He even hooked a dozen after the crowds left, landed one.

That's the funny thing about that river. It could be hot in one hole and absent at another.
I do not think anything will top the epic run of September 2012 that I was fortunate enough to fish with a good friend where there were literally hundreds and hundreds of fish everywhere.
I will be curious to see if things flatten out some from here on out.

Left my house at 01:00 Tuesday morning to fish for the day. I was so tired by lunchtime i decided to call it a day. Caught a few, and lost track of how many i lost. No fisherman. there was only 6 truck at the sportmans hole. Plenty of fish in the river right now. I will be heading up again Columbus day weekend and maybe a day or 2 before that lol. Those Cohos really put up a fight.
