Salmon fishing?

So planning a canadian trip next year but this year i want to still take a short vacation fishing somewhere and the idea of packing some fresh salmon fillets in the freezer for winter is ideal so is there anywhere in pa i can fish for salmon or just across the boarder, cabins to rent for the weekend near fishing locations or outfitters? i would like to fish streams or rivers i even have my own boat with motor would like to find a place to fish without fishing shoulder to shoulder with other ppl. Any info

From September to April my world revolves around hunting the rest is preseason.

When the Salmon are running, there is no such thing as being able to fish alone.
Thanks to the internet, guys will leave home and work on a seconds notice that a pod of fish have entered the tributary.
Enjoy your time in Canada. It will certainly be more relaxing than battling the hoards of people fishing around the great lakes regions.

PA doesn't have salmon in Lake Erie. Salmon are no longer stocked due to poor returns.

The closest place to go for salmon is NY in Lake Ontario. The salmon won't be running until the fall but you can fish for them in the lake.

Paul Czarnecki of Tri-State fishing charters in Lake Ontario has some really good success. 30 foot boat and all tackle aboard the "Free Spirit" you will catch fish.

I recall a guy glowingly telling me about the great fishing he and some of his buddies had done on Lake Erie from a charter boat for steelhead. They went once per year. The guys sat around a large table on deck playing poker, drinking beer, smoking cigars, and talking about their extramarital affairs. Meanwhile the captain of the good ship drove around the lake with a bunch of downriggers behind the boat. Every time a steelhead hooked itself the captain would go over to the table and ask the guys whose turn it was to reel in the steelhead. He filled his freezer with fillets each year and thought this was great fishing.

I was so glad he didn't ask me to go along on their next trip.

I can be contacted at [email protected].
