Hybrid Rainbow?

I've caught plenty of stocked trout, but never seen a stocked rainbow with this kind of coloration and spotting on the stomach. Almost looks like it's got some brown trout genetics. Anyone seen one like this before?

No hybrid, just a rainbow. I have been catching them like that for a few years now.

Gotcha! Yea, this yellow color is a first for me. Picture doesn't really do it justice. Most bows I catch are pretty standard looking.

I've caught some stocked rainbows with spots far down the sides, but I don't recall one with spots covering the belly. Definitely unusual. I occasionally catch a rainbow with a yellowish hue. None of this has anything to do with brown trout; just a variation within rainbow trout.

I can be contacted at [email protected].

I've never seen a PA rainbow with spots like that. Thanks for posting.

There are no rainbow-brown trout hybrids.

Rainbows often crossbreed with cutthroat and golden trout out west but I think the chromosomes are too different for browns and rainbows to create a hybrid.

The co-op I'm a part of has stocked fish that looked like that before. Not a ton but I've seen and caught them.

back when they started to mess around with amount of fish that were to be stocked i started to notice a few like that. Mainly on the male fish, i have caught a few with the spots that extend to the belly. If i caught anymore then i will take a picture.

Thanks for the responses guys!

Another thing I noticed was that it was waaaay more aggressive than the other rainbows I was catching in that stream. Absolutely hammered my spinner, and then fought way harder than any of the others from that evening. I know that's pretty subjective, but just thought it was a cool side note.
