Penn Battle II - 2000. Bit more money, but I have moved from Shimano recently and found these to be fairly good at the price point. Pflueger Presidente is nice too.

I just fish for trout. My reel of choice is the Pflueger President either 6920 or 6925. The 6920 has 6 bearings and line capacity is 4/100 or 6/80. The 6925 has 9 bearings with line capacity of 4/110 or 6/90. The 6920 is ~$50 while the 6925 is ~$60 at sporting goods stores. A bit cheaper on Amazon.

I have good luck with Shimano reels. Just try the model in your price range. It should be good. About ten yrs ago I dropped a bunch of money on a Penn. I was really disappointed. There were days on the stream with it, that I would have traded it for a zebco 202, had anyone been there with one.

I just order the Pflueger President 6920 on DICK's website for $49.99 less $10 mail in rebate ($39.99) final cost. Great reel at a steal, imo. FT.

2 years ago I replaced all of my reels with new shimano reels. They are ok but I don't think as good as they use to be. I recently won a reel it's a pflueger president and it's nice. I also just ordered a Lews for trout and it seems well made.

I own 3 Shimano reels but they are from the era of the Mark Is and Mark 3s. Reels have come a long ways since then, just bought a Browning Xbolt for bass fishing, 8 ballbearings and reasonably priced.
