4/08 youth day

was wondering if anybody can give me feedback since its start? thinking about taking the 8 yr old up camp(forest/clarion county area) a week earlier than regular opener and give this a shot so he doesnt have to compete with drunk adults.lol.. do they do any special stockings besides whats listed on the website stocking calendar? Couldnt find much info other than date and license requirements.. thanks in advance..

Just pic a stream stocked by the state. I prefer less popular smaller ones away from town as they are gonna have the least pressure

Maple Creek and Millstone would be my first stops. Blue Jay might still have too much pressure even on youth day.

I agree. Both Blue Jay and Salmon would be no goes for me next Saturday. They'll be crowded as all get up. TDM makes solid suggestions there.

They used to have a kids only area at the mouth of toms run in cook forest.

Blue Jay and Salmon creek won't be stocked for the 4/8 mentored youth day. Millstone will be stocked.

Be very very quiet!!

Go to the fish commission website and click on trout stockings.
Put in your county and it will bring up all the Pa. stocked waters in that county and what date(s) they will be stocked.
Any streams noted with a stocking date PRIOR to 4-8-17 would be a stream or lake stocked for MY day.

Any changes in the stocking dates will be noted in RED next to the original date listed.

Good luck.

If they get all the rain that's being called for in that area tomorrow, then the best place to be will be inside the camp or at the Ridgway Reservoir.

I checked a stream today that we had planned to fish Saturday for the youth opener. It was muddy and raging today. This is the second time in the past 10 days it has been raging. It was stocked about 2 weeks ago. I am thinking the trout are gonna be pretty spread out for Saturday, if it is even fishable.

I support all hunters, regardless of weapon or technique!

If it keeps raining you could save a trip and cast from your house and reach it.
