Regional Opener

Well folks the time is almost near for the regional opener. In less then 48 hours streams will be lined with people in the selected counties. Right now I'm seeing period of rain throughout the day for weather. As long as it isn't a wash out I'm hoping to get out for a little bit.

Creeks are going to be a mess unfortunately. 1-2 inches of rain forecast for Friday into Saturday morning here in Perry County.

The forecast is actually great news. Plus more rain later in the week. Streams high at the start of the season = good fishing for longer in the season. Last year the streams were so low around here there were 3 or 4 spots along the stream that had any fish in them. I'd rather have fish everywhere. Last time this happened I had good fishing into June. I hope it POURS Friday!

Lots of trout were stocked at the spot I'm fishing but 1-2 inches of rain could make things difficult. I'm glad for rain but the timing was bad. If the action is slow I'll have to make another trip there on Sunday or Monday when the water recedes.

I would bet my paycheck that no streams in the SE part of the state will be fishable at 8 AM Saturday. 1-2 inches of rain will make for raging chocolate water. I went over my local stream yesterday and it was still discolored from Tuesdays downpours. Saturday evening may be doable but they will still be brown!

Darn- last time I looked at the forecast the other day I thought it said rain late saturday. I was planning on fishing the upper Wissahickon in Montco for the opener. Guess if it rains all day tomorrow I'll sleep in a little bit and show up right at 8

1.5-2 inches with locally higher amounts from the latest epawa forecast, larger streams wont be fishable. Normally i would be upset but since most of the nice trout were taken last weekend from the couple creeks i fish i could care less this year.

I fish the Wissy 67, and showing up at 8 will be a waste if we get the heavy rain. That crick rises fast. It was still brown yesterday from Tuesdays rain.

Your right on here, besides the ground is already saturated from previous rains and whatever
melting snow remains.
I don't fish opening day locally but do like to go at Crack of Dawn on Sunday but I believe
that will be out of the queation also.
Maybe I'll call out of work on Monday

1-2 inches would normally have me thanking the Lord for rain this time of year, but just bad timing. I'll be out as long as the CFS is under 500.
