Microwave Trout Bone Removal Trick

I made a post a year or so ago describing this intriguing Microwave Bone removal method, and now I finally made a YouTube video for everyone to see how its done. My family came up with this Microwave bone removal method over 3 decades ago and we been doing it ever since. You wont find any info on this on the internet, its been posted to youtube for the first time ever by myself. My Great Uncle came up with this trick but never knew how he figured it out or how he came up with it. Im sure he said one point in his life but don't remember what he said. He passed in 2011 and never got a chance to ask him and now I wish I had. So this is a tribute to Uncle Tom. I hope you all give this a try and all really like it. I know the ones that have absolutely love it!!! and leave their fillet knives in the drawer. lol As an experienced spin/fly fishermen and love to fish and love to eat them but im horrible at filleting fish. Even with expensive and fancy filleting knives more is left on the bone then I end up with in the frying pan. hahaha But Not with this method. So that's why we do it this way. 0 fish wasted Bones stripped clean. As you see in the pic.
Any questions feel free to ask! Enjoy!!!! Now go watch the Video!

Here is the Youtube Video.

Neat. What is the texture like say vs. grilling in the old fashioned aluminum pouch or even pan frying?

Re: Microwave Trout Bone Removal Trick

Thanks guys! Troutspinner, you still have to fry and or bake them. Its my bad, I should of said they aren't edible after the microwave. " Microwave is Just to remove the bones." It is slightly cooked out of the microwave that's what makes the bones release from the meat obviously but they aren't cooked nearly enough to be eaten after the microwave bone removal trick.
After we take the bones out We send ours to batter or egg and bread crumbs then to the frying pan. Or if you like them baked then send them to the oven or put them in Aluminum and on the grill. How ever you desire to cook them.

It was my first video and I should of said a few more things like they do need to be fried or baked after this trick. I kinda just figured people would figure it out its just to remove bones and not cooking them to be served.

But as far as texture vs. just taking a fillet knife to em' they are same as raw just a little more brittle and will fall apart if run too long in the microwave. finding the exact time in the microwave is Key, mine is 50sec. per side my old microwave was 1 min per side. Now say you got a 19" trout Just do one on a plate for longer. say 1min 20 sec. you will know if you didn't do it long enough cuz the bones wont release from the meat. put it back in for 20 seconds or so longer. Just keep trying. kinda got to mess with it and learn the times for your microwave. Just because so many microwaves are all different in how much wattage they run.

Fishing, Turkey Hunting, Shed Hunting, Archery Hunting yep that's it!

Re: Microwave Trout Bone Removal Trick

I was wondering if you cooked after that. Good to know. I can see a fry in my near future after using this method. I typically will not fry because of the bones. It's one thing if I eat them but I get too worried about the kids. Thanks.
