A short outing

Thursday I got the kids off to school and the littlest one woke up and didn't want to go back to bed. He'll be two in June and he already loves fishing. I gave him some breakfast and asked if he wanted to go fishing. The response was "fishy! fishy!", lol. So we went to a little spot on fishing creek that's perfect for kids and close to the house.

First fish hit a trout magnet and I handed him the rod after setting the hook. He brought that one in without even really needing me to help him keep the rod tip up.

Nothing else hit the magnet so I switched back to a spinner and started working that big hole over. It wasn't long and I was handing the rod back to him again. This one was bigger than the first though and he needed help keeping the rod tip up. He held the rod and reeled whith all his might while I kept one finger just below the bottom guide to keep pressure on the line so he wouldn't get off. A few minutes later he was looking at a nice pretty brown. This one I measured and it was 14.5

He also loves eating them and on the ride home he HAD to have them out of my vest so he could hold them.

Luckily I have a few more years of having a fishing buddy on my off days before he has to start school.

Great story and way to get the kid out there fishing.

Also, you're very brave to leave a bag full of trout with a 2 YO in the back seat lol.

That's great man. I love teaching them that young. Its amazing what they pick up from you. My little guy will be 3 at the end of June. I have been taking him both bait and fly fishing. We were fly fishing and he was trying to feel the line like you would on a spinning rod. I had never showed him that. Great stuff and you are doing it right sir!!
