Bass vs Trout

It seems as though I will get to fish a little more this spring as a stream runs right next to the soccer field My daughter has practice on 2 times a week. It will only be for an hour or so each time. I had my rod and a rooster tail that I caught a couple little smallmouth's yesterday.
I would prefer to catch a couple of stockies. So with these rooster tails is there a different technique that I can use to pick up some trout or should I switch to a different color/style lure. What would you do to target a different species?
thanks for your help.

Re: Bass vs Trout

what size spinners are you throwing? #0 #1 #2? What creek in the pgh area? a lot could have to do with it being 'wiped out' of trout if it is easily accessible.

Re: Bass vs Trout

If you are talking about LC in USC it is a smallmouth haven. No trout make it down that far

Re: Bass vs Trout

RTH nailed it.
It does look good for smallmouth.
I am surprized they dont stock that far down.
It is a nice place with good access and stuff to do if your kid gets bored fishing. I guess I will fish for smallmouth then. At least I have that option. Thanks for the replies.
