Well the goal for this weekend was to find some good wild browns for smayway and myself. Started out 7:00 pm Friday hiking into a secluded beaver pond with some heavyweight fly gear. Not long into it I rolled exactly what we were looking for. After a awhile I finally landed the first fish a 16" brown then I got a 15" brown and a football 16.5" brook that had floated downstream from a stocked area. Smayway landed an 18" football brook. The darker it got the better the fishing got until we realized neither of us brought a light so we hiked out under moonlight.
Day two started out chasing some stockies in the morning. Smayway managef a couple bows until we decided to take a short trip up through a smaller stream that produced 13", 16" and 14" browns.
That night we hiked back to the beaver pond. Thus time. There was a few fish rising and a few misses and smayway got another football right to his feet. Also ended up with a beaver on a fly rod which isn't a fair fight.
I headed out solo this morning. 3rd cast first fish of the day resulted in a 20.25" brown. Shortly after I landed an 18" brown then the smallest fish of the weekend a 12" brown. I followed that up with a chase from an 18" brown then caught a 16.5" and a 16" brown before ending up back in civilization and calling it a day. Was a strange weekend. Numbers were down but quality was way up.
