Re: first day pics and stories???
I'm not a big trout nut, but figured it was nice outside and heck, I've got a bit of cabin fever.
Headed up to the Nescopeck Creek in Drums. I used to fish Lake Francis, but that place is a zoo on opening day. My assumption was correct as I drove past and looked at the parking lot! Looked like the mall on Christmas Eve.
Went to my usually parking area, which is away from everyone else. Took the long walk to the creek as I fish/walk my way back towards the truck. Last year I saw no one, this year there were quite a few fisherman at the creek.
Fishing was slow at first. No bites and I wasn't seeing anything in the water. Had to leap frog around guys a few times. Saw a few guys with a couple of average size stocked trout.
Finally had some action myself. In the next few holes I ended up with four stocked brookies, averaging in the 10-12" range. Hooked them on a small silver/black Rapala. Missed a few others. Saw a few hiding under trees when the sun got high. All fish were caught and released. Was home by 11am.
Not a bad morning after a slow start. Drove by the F.E. Walter Dam on the way home. Pool was way, way high. Sure miss my boat.
