Opening weekend stream conditions

Well, as we all know, April stream conditions are completely unpredictable. I will be in the Potter/Cameron county area Thursday-Sunday, so I've been checking the weather and stream conditions regularly. The driftwood branch is running at 1400 cfs and dropping, so it looks like it should be down around 600 by Saturday, which would be perfect. It even seems that the DHALO areas will be good to go on Thursday. Anyone up that way have any thoughts on the conditions?

Re: Opening weekend stream conditions

I think guys are going to be in good shape this week with maybe the exception of SWPA which is currently a mess. There is some additonal rain this week but I think guys up north are going to be in decent shape.

Re: Opening weekend stream conditions

They are calling for showers and possible thunderstorms this thursday and Friday here in the SW. It won't take much water the bring them high and muddy for Saturday around here. If all we get is some scattered showers, we may be OK.

I support all hunters, regardless of weapon or technique!

Calling for up to 1/2" of rain tonight up here. Then Thursday night-Friday too. Might muddy em up about right.

Re: Opening weekend stream conditions

I'm just hoping the rain coming into the Emporium area tonight isn't too heavy. The hourly is only showing a few hours of rain, so if it stays on the lighter side it should be good. It just seems like more often than not anymore the streams are high and colored for the first weekend. I would love to have nice conditions this year, as I'm sure all of you do as well. I'm hoping for the best!

Re: Opening weekend stream conditions

I'm taking my son to camp for his first time this Friday. We will be in Tidioute. Anybody know the stream conditions of Hickory, Salmon and the Tionesta around Mayburg or Kelletville?

Re: Opening weekend stream conditions

As of Friday they were unfishably high. Of course they've had a couple days to run off. But we do have some rain in the forecast. I'm guessing they'll be on the high side but fishable come Saturday. Just depends on how much rain we get.

I'll be up in the Warren/Forest area too. Gauges aren't looking that bad now, and they are only showing the chance of showers for Friday. I think the larger streams might be a tad high but fishable. Any of the smaller mountain streams should be good to go.

Re: Opening weekend stream conditions

With the way this winter's been and the inaccuracy of the weather service, I'm half expecting snow that morning. Anything else will just be a delight.
