You would probably do better if ya targeted Fisher, Otter and Bob Cat if your looking for cash. You'd just have to get the right permits. You'll have to do a lot of work if it's cash ya want.
Were only allowed to harvest 1 fisher, otter and Bobcat in Pa. So you cant make any $ off those critters trapping Pa. Have to go out west for the cats your talking about. And fisher and otter market stinks also right now.
Reason i asked was 2 years ago my 13 year old wanted to trap coon so we got a few dp traps to try. Well he caught two but with the market we couldn't get rid of them so we got the hides tanned for him. We don't want to catch them and have no where to go with them so we just left them grow for later i guess. Lol
havent seen good fur prices in a long time I never trapped much but do a lot of pred hunting and for many years now I wont even shoot a fox their numbers are low in my area and cant give em away. never did it for $ just the love of calling em in been doing it with a friend since we were kids 56 now
I still take out new guys and am happy to call them in for them to shoot and they mount or have em tanned
They are such a neat animal and I love to watch them cant bring myself to pull the trigger when they are only worth a buck or two would rather let them run for another day.
And my buddy traps a lot and he even lets them go when he catches them he sets mostly for yotes
these are all green fur prices I got
$60.00 top on yotes, $15.00 top on big coon, $10.00 on beaver. better than I figured on.
You have a better Section of coon and coyotes than we have here in Pa. Our school bus colored coons canít hold a candle to an Iowa coon. I havenít ever looked at an Iowa yote, but they always get a better dollar than ours do. Pa coyotes are big, but wire haired. Beavers would be about the same.....itís a hatter market now, all going for felt.
